Powered Industrial Truck, due to the number of accidents which are attributable to their use, OSHA has established an entire section in the, OSHA Regulations (Standards - 29 CFR), Powered industrial trucks. - 1910.178, OSHA states that 70 to 90 percent of all forklift accidents are the result of forklift operator error. OSHA, has further mandated that all operators be formally trained and certified by the employer ,to operate the specific piece of equipment.
